Welcome to the NCCU SLA Student Chapter Website!
Since 1910, the Special Libraries Association has advocated for the library and information professional with emphasis on the needs of the special population.
The objective of the NCCU SLA Student Chapter is to provide a forum for the networking and career development. Developing these skills and relationships will enable students to have a creative impact on their profession as well as provide employment and scholarship opportunities.
Activities sponsored by the organization include:
- guest speaker presentations
- field trips
- library tours and
- social events
Membership in the NCCU Student Chapter is free. However, we strongly encourage members to join the national Special Libraries Association (SLA). To join, simply visit the SLA website.
Another valuable resource is the NCSLA Chapter listserv which provides up to day news and events in the surrounding area. To join the listserv, simply follow the instructions on the NC Chapter Website.

The SLA was founded to provide librarian in specialized discipline and non-traditional careers to share advice and the network. SLA encompasses a plethora of the fields and provides unique opportunities for the library professionals.
